Position Summary

As a senior member of a lean and high-performing Linux administrative team, you will be responsible for providing second level administrative support to our software and support engineering and data science teams while maintaining all local and hosted/aaS Linux servers.  The Senior Linux Systems Administrator position will be accountable for server builds, application deployment, patching, backups, recovery, monitoring, compliance auditing support and, advocating for automation and industry best practices.

Qualifications

    • Experience with common DBMS: MySQL, Oracle, Mongo, SQLServer
    • Advanced knowledge of SAN, NAS and Object storage systems: Fiber channel, iscsi, NFS, FCoE, S3
    • Administrative to advanced knowledge of Apache: HTTP, Cassandra, CloudStack, CouchDB, Flume, Kafka, *MQ, Ambari & Hadoop, Ignite, VMWare, Nutanix
    • Advanced knowledge of IPv4, SCP, SSH, FTPS, RSync, firewalls, load balancing
    • Functional Knowledge of DNS, LDAP, ADDNS
    • Advanced knowledge of BASH, sh, perl, Python or JavaScript
    • Familiarity with GitHub, Artifactory, Xamarin, and Atlassian – Jira, Confluence,
    • Strong knowledge/understanding of incident management, change control management, problem management, Agile Scrum/Kanban, Waterfall frameworks
    • Experience with service management software: ServiceNow, BMC Remedy, ZenDesk, ServiceDesk, HPSM.

Job duties and desired skills

o   50% - Maintain daily business operations and collaborate with team members to complete assigned Agile story work

o   30% - Plan, design, configure, patch, test, automate, and implement system changes

o   15% - Document processes, procedures, configuration settings and infrastructure design for business continuity and disaster recovery

o   5% - Includes on-call activities

  • Apply strong technical problem-solving skills daily
  • Be pro-active with a focus on constant improvement and follow through at all levels
  • Demonstrate your ability to work in a fast-paced environment while balancing multiple priorities
  • Provide excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Analyze/troubleshoot all levels of server, application and network issues.
  • Document, track and monitor technical issues to ensure timely resolution
  • Provide timely and thorough input for regular status reporting
  • Take ownership of issues, work independently or escalate as needed, and find creative ways to resolve problems
  • Perform other duties and special projects as required or assigned
