Manage the application of private fleet and common carrier services and resources to inbound and outbound transportation activities for one or more AutoZone Distribution Centers. Directly responsible for the service and budget goals. Responsible for transportation personnel and transportation related activities including Driver Safety, Maintenance, fuel, systems, reporting, carrier support and management. Performs other duties as required/assigned. Positions includes up to 25% travel.

  • Scheduling, in conjunction with the Routing and Scheduling Analysts, Transportation Manager and Store Management (Divisional, Regional and District) , develops and maintains highly tailored schedules focused on-time parameters, costs, DOT regulations, maintenance, equipment issues, and geography, etc.
  • Manages outside carriers relative to duties including bids, line hauls, storage, LP issues, timely handling, and returns. Plan and Meet budget guidelines. Manage Vendor relationships and cross-docking activities.
  • Special projects as directed by the Regional Transportation Manager; prepare and monitor reports and activities as assigned. 
  • Other responsibilities may include Daily Vehicle Condition Reports (post trip), process examination such as International involvement, seal programs, procedures, warranty recovery and problem resolution as necessary. 
  • Bachelor's degree (BA, BS) or equivalent. 
  • Five to seven years experience. 
  • Skills: Transportation, Logistics, Business Management
