Summary:

AutoZone's Senior User Experience (UX) Specialist produces a best-in-class user experience strategy supporting key Product Team partners via research, product architecture/user flows, and continuous customer feedback.

The Senior User Experience (UX) Specialist will:
  • Aim to pursue knowledge of best practices in the changing landscape of the digital retail space. 
  • Measure and discover our patron's behaviors, wants, and needs to improve AutoZone’s overall customer eCommerce strategy. 
  • Seek evidence in problem statements and engineer solutions for functional, usable, and accessible products that bring purpose and value to the business and our customer.
The Senior User Experience (UX) Specialist will strive to be ever-curious about our customer's interaction with our product, to be lean and nimble focused on outcomes over output, always have a team attitude, and be respectful as we fight for our users.


Responsibilities:
  • Works with product managers, designers, and developers to prioritize the digital team's research needs in a fast-paced Agile environment.
  • Communicate the UX project roadmap to establish delivery expectations
  • Conduct user research, usability testing, and heuristic analysis, in order to deliver a user centric design approach. When appropriate, able to conduct evaluative, formative, and summative research methods.
  • Drive qualitative insights to inform the definition and development of new and existing products across all platforms 
  • Assemble competitive analysis, best practices, and site audits to provide insight regarding the consumer market, trends and our customer needs, pain points and buying behaviors.
  • Define key user journeys/experiences across all digital channels including the development of lo-fi wireframes for pages or applications.
  • Present UX work (e.g. research results, testing results, user flows, wireframes, etc.) back to business stakeholders and advise on UX best practice.
  • Manage digital agencies to support the delivery of UX projects & activities to ensure UX- and design-related deliverables meet our quality standards and adhere to our brand guidelines.
  • When appropriate, mentor and/or manage UX Specialists. Provide guidance, support as needed. Assess performance on a regular basis and develop actions plans that support professional development and career progression as per AutoZone’s career development framework
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Factors Engineering, Information Science, Psychology, Design Research, Anthropology, Marketing, Political Science or four years’ equivalent UX experience
  • Preferred Master of Science in User Experience or Human Computer Interaction
  • Preferred certification from Human Factors International or Nielsen Norman Group
  • 5 - 7 years’ experience in the User Experience profession
  • Experience with any of the following Axure, UXPin, InVision, Proto.io, Validately, Sketch, Adobe CC, Zeplin, UserTesting.com, Clicktale, Optimal Workshop, Qualtrics, TeaLeaf, Hotjar, Adobe Analytics.
  • Experience communicating with product owners, business stakeholders, SEO, Analytics, and Front-End development.
Skills:
  • Established knowledge in UX methodology
  • History working with qualitative and quantitative research and analytic data
  • A creative thinker, who can also think practically and provide solutions to a variety of business problems
  • Personal initiative and independence in achieving outcomes
  • Ability to work and lead a team within a fast paced, agile environment while not compromising on the high quality of thinking, approach and deliverables
  • Ability to manage and resolve project-based and leadership-based challenges in a fair, professional and effective manner.
  • A team player who can handle constructive criticism and work collaboratively with others to work towards a common goal
  • A confident storyteller while delivering the optimal user solution
  • A driven, energetic and passionate individual who is customer centric and has everything at the heart of the customer
