AutoZone is looking for a Systems Engineer, focused on Linux and Virtualization technologies. The engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of Linux Infrastructure. They work closely with other Systems Engineers and functional teams to ensure adequate solutions are in place throughout all IT systems and platforms, maintaining system performance and reliability while rapidly delivering solutions to the business. The individual in this role will be responsible for designing and building system environments for new projects, maintenance for existing deployments, and user support and troubleshooting. The individual is also expected to contribute to internal process improvements and identify opportunities for efficiency. After-hours support is required.

Responsibilities
  • Design and deploy Linux solutions to foster growth and improvement of AutoZone’s infrastructure.
  • Routinely manage health of operational systems, identify monitoring and automation gaps.
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.
  • Create and execute scripts to automate essential functions.
Knowledge and Experience
  • 5+ years of System Engineering experience.
  • Extensive experience with Linux Administration (CentOS, Red Hat, Fedora). Must be able to build and maintain production-grade Linux systems.
  • Experience with infrastructure automation through scripting using (for example) Python, Shell, Ansible, Puppet, CFEngine, or others.
  • Understands enterprise infrastructure concepts – VMWare, SAN, network, load balancer, and security devices.
  • Strong understanding of application and server monitoring tools.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate well with team members.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or related field
  • RHCSA strongly preferred
