Job Description

Summary

A fortune 250 retail company headquartered in Memphis TN is looking for a Lead [Search] System Engineer. They are going through a big transformation on digital channels with heavy investment to modernize our search platform from legacy monolithic architecture to the latest MACH (Micro Services, APIs first, Cloud Native, & Headless) architecture with AI/ML enabled personalized search experience for our customers. eCommerce/Search experience to be part of this challenging journey to help us accomplish these goals. This position is responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of the new search platform within GCP.

 

Must Haves:

7+ years with a background in Engineering

4+ years’ experience in a leadership role where they were responsible for design thinking, business relationship management, and providing technical leadership/direction.

Hands-on experience with Apache Solr Or similar search technology (e.g. ElasticSearch).

        The key is fundamentally understanding search – indexing, faceting, query pipelining, etc.

Enterprise Retail background (preferred)

Experience with Product Catalog.

Complex Search Experience is a MUST (Work with 5M+ SKUs or more)

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field preferre.

 

Pluses/Nice to Have:

Hands on experience with scripting: Python

Bash Shell Scripting on LINUX

Cloud experience (GCP preferred, not required)

Hands-on experience in development using Cloud Products. Particularly using these tools:

    • Kubernetes Engine (GKE) Or any Kubernetes
    • Cloud Run Or any cloud containerization engine
    • Big Query Or Snowflake, or similar
    • Pub/Sub Or related cloud MoM solution

 

Day to Day:

Architect, Design and build innovative search technologies in a GCP environment.

Build distributed storage, index, and query systems that are scalable, fault-tolerant, low cost, and easy to manage/use.

Accurate work planning estimation and execution; accurate project and time tracking.

Responsible for the development of less experienced team members through mentorship and one-on-one instruction.

Responsible for defining code specifications and how systems will be constructed.

Work in a team environment to develop and support each other through peer code reviews.

Work in incremental delivery model with product-centric teams to develop enterprise solutions.
