Job Description

Summary:

AutoZone's Site Reliability Engineering team is seeking a Senior System Engineer to lead initiatives within our SRE platform infrastructure team. This role will focus on collaborating with engineering teams to optimize value delivery by driving the strategy and implementation of tooling and processes for a platform-centric deployment model. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of SRE and DevOps practices and experience leading complex projects in a distributed systems environment.

Responsibilities:

Lead the architecture and design for release, deployment workflows, and application lifecycle processes.

Own the building, maintenance, and management of DevOps tools and processes.

Mentor team members on SRE best practices and emerging technologies.

Drive work planning and execution, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

Analyze and optimize system performance through metrics gathering and troubleshooting.

Collaborate with development teams to enhance services through advanced testing and release strategies.

Provide expert guidance on system design consulting, platform management, and capacity planning.

Champion the creation of sustainable systems and services through automation.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Information Technology, or a related field.

5+ years of experience in a System Engineering or SRE role.

Advanced understanding of Linux and distributed systems.

Proven ability to identify and resolve complex problems and performance bottlenecks.

Deep understanding of container orchestration, CI/CD, Infrastructure-as-Code, and other DevOps/SRE tooling.

Hands-on experience with DevOps tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, Jenkins, or similar.

Proficiency in multiple programming languages.

Experience leading and mentoring technical teams.

Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

3+ years of experience in a SRE, supporting 24/7 applications and setting up monitoring and working with APM tools like Dynatrace/Splunk/AppDynamics etc.
