AutoZone is looking for an experienced Senior Engineer to join our Memphis, TN based team to influence our transformation of the in-store experience for our customers and AutoZoners in the store. You will have the opportunity to lead multiple team members to re-engineer store applications and processes using a modern technology stack. The ideal AutoZoner will have deep development experience in React and JavaScript and a passion for building strong technical teams around them.
As a Senior Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the transition and management of services/applications to production environments with deep focus on Design, Development, production operations, capacity planning and performance management. You will be challenged to solve complex technical problems with unique solutions, identify improvements and implement your recommendations.

- Lead the development team to create new and continuously improve products, including planning, designing, coding, testing, staging and deployment.

- As an AutoZoner, you will be surrounded consistently by top tier talent (both onsite as well as remote); to effectively collaborate with your team you will be expected to hold an elevated level of organization, detail orientation, and the ability to articulate issues clearly.
- Implement effective 360-degree monitoring to ensure quick alerting of any problems in the ecosystem.
- Advocate for top-notch design standards and lead process improvements in collaboration with architects and Application Engineers.
- Delegate work to other less experienced engineers and provide coaching / mentorship.
- Accurate work planning and execution; accurate project and time tracking.
Requirements:
Must-have:
- Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of direct experience in designing and delivering software applications.
- Strong background in JavaScript, React, and Node.js on Linux operating systems.
- Experience in the design and implementation of RESTful services and consumption of those APIs.
- Proven experience in leading software development teams and mentoring junior engineers.
- Ability to quickly troubleshoot critical issues spanning applications and infrastructure.
Preferred: - Experience in the retail industry with a distributed network of servers hosting client-side applications.
- Familiarity with Express.js, RTK Query, or Redux Saga.
Knowledge of C/C++ and QT 5.15 or QT 6+.
